In 2025 I decided to start a little journey through concept art, I had no idea it would be so different from what I was already doing. The main challenge, (which is also the benefit), is the speed for which you blast though ideas and before you take time to finish it off, your already on the next idea. Its been a good few months of sketching.
Last year I had a big focus on painting traditionally, which was fun, but I always feel its good to pursue another artistic avenue whenever you start to feel like it drags a little bit, and I was definitely starting to feel that with my art direction.
I am taking this journey into concept art very seriously, which means 10-15 sketches on an idea before I just go for it, and learning to color digitally a lot faster. All in all its been good fun and practice, I’m sure these “speed ideas” will come into play with the rest of my art as things progress.
For this post I have included two fantasy creatures, a race of mushroom men (this one being a blacksmith) and also a race of crystal miners that have permanently become one with the minerals. These guys started off as a lesson in mutations, but quickly developed into their own specific races.
