Starting off the new year right by creating worlds! Blackbrand Seas has a new map with updated locations. I’ve found it difficult to come up with new names of places and logistics when trying to write a story. Its better just to have all that done and the characters can just live in there.
It took me several days nonstop to get to this step. This map was created on 11×17″ paper, so it’s quite large for me. I usually stay within the confines of the sketchbook. Not quite finished, but definitely good for my purposes. This is the fictional map of Lareini Island where most of my stories take place.
On the left side of the map we have the coast of Caden. It is surrounded by a tropical island archipelago.
Next, I’ve been drawing this image of a pirate warrior queen. So far I don’t have a story for her, but the serpent tattoo will be relevant. The theme of snakes is fairly prevalent in some of my architecture as of late.
Over several half hour sessions I was able to fully ink her. Next will be color, I think with alcohol markers. I’ve been using this illustration as a test while I figure out YouTube Live sessions and work out the kinks with my setup.
