Hi all! Earlier this month I really started taking sketching seriously again. I’ve kept sketchbooks in the past, but I never really saw the book as it’s own art form. A lot of times in the past, or most times I would leave books mostly empty, and sometimes wholly unfinished, which always bothered me. Now I’m making a solid effort to make marks on every page, and if an artwork is deemed worthy, I’ll just paint it in the sketchbook. I have found this makes for a really interesting product that you can look back on and see how you’ve experienced life lately.
Since the beginning of the month I’ve filled about 60 pages of this little 5×8″ book. I’ll be sharing some of those images over the course of the next few weeks when I get them scanned in!

The first image is a self portrait, I haven’t done one of those in a long time! But I’m pretty happy with it. I have some more sketches in a gallery here, so click on them to enlarge! The last image of the fiery gate to hell was drawn on my birthday. It’s from Oblivion, a video game series I’m fond of. I really wanted to delve into something deep and therapeutic that morning. I learned that even because its in a small sketchbook doesn’t mean I can’t spend a lot of time on it and get it finished looking! The same thing happened with the Baba Yaga house!
I have prints of the Baba Yaga house available! I send small prints to my patreons every month. If you sign up, I’ll give you a few extra as a bonus! http://patreon.com/williamcopic
I’m curious if anybody else has found joy in keeping a sketchbook or a journal or diary, let me know!
As always I hope you guys have a great week! More sketches to follow next week.
